Kinetic Scultpure
2900 km lie between Jemaa El Fna square and Berlin. In July 2011 both places were unified, transformed by Thomas Ladenburger and Hannes Nehls’ kinetic room scultpure, which was exibited in the House of World Cultures in Berlin (Haus
der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin). The Berlin public was given the opportunity to emerse themselves in the hustle and bustle of Jemaa El Fna with the first virtual-
reality Halqa.
The installation is almost like a hologram with its layers. Almost a hundred fabric tubes move around the room and serve as projection screens for the film material recorded in Marrakesh. Each fabric tube floats autonomously through the space and interacts with the audience.
